Day 1:
Our first show in Europe, an indian friend had two extra table besides his. On my left my buddy from Slovenia, who I had me and spent time with in Jaipur set up. We had a nice enough table, and by mid~day there were very few customers coming to this event. My Indian friend was telling me that time for fairs like this in Europe were over. I kept the faith !
Day 2:
a close up of my table and my neighbors, he specializes in Ruby's from Macedonia. The only ruby found in Europe.
Sales were not going well, both my neighbor was highly discouraged.
But I did manage to find the one booth that sold wine and cheese, so not all was lost.
Day 3:
On the third day, My neighbor decided to pack it up, instead of leaving the table empty, I stretched out a bit. Displaying ( just for fun ) a dress from Afghanistan I had purchased, ( yes, three days at a gem show, and all I buy is a dress ) other odds and ends, but most importantly, a couple of bottles of wine, some plastic glasses, a plate with bread, cheese and tomato's and a little sign that read "Aperativo?" A touch I really liked, I being the only vendor in the place to offer aperativo's to anyone who wanted. Needless to say, I did a bit better on this day, made some nice friends, and overall, was able to call the exhibition a success.
